Outside of the Estate, you are in the heart of the ancient east so there is no end of historical sites and local craftspeople to pay a visit to. Our favourites are:

Jerpoint Abbey - a medieval Cistercian Abbey in Ireland with stunning architecture and plenty of history.

Jerpoint Glass - why not pop your head in for a gander at the beautiful, distinctive glasswares made here… and maybe head home with a souvenir, it’s just across the road from the gates to the Estate!

Nicholas Mosse Pottery - made in Kilkenny and recognised all across the world. Get a coffee in their lovely café, and maybe head home with your own Nicholas Mosse mugs!

Kilkenny Castle - a 13th century defensive Castle, well worth a visit.

Woodstock Gardens - no, not the infamous music festival - Woodstock Gardens in nearby Inistioge are stunningly restored Victorian gardens. Brush off the cobwebs after a weekend of celebrations, and enjoy some of the beautiful trails.
